Watch the partial solar eclipse safely

There will be a partial solar eclipse visible over London, and across the UK, on Wednesday (12 August) – and it is vital to be prepared, as looking directly at the sun without the appropriate protection can cause permanent damage to your eyesight.
Many people will want to experience this natural phenomenon, with experts saying this year’s “deep” eclipse is the biggest in the UK since the total solar eclipse in 1999 – and the next similarly significant event is due to occur in 2081.
This time, over London, it will happen between 6.17pm and 8.06pm, with the eclipse at its maximum at 7.12pm.
